Seventh Son

My son can’t wait to see the upcoming Seventh Son movie, which will be released February 6th. If you can’t wait to see it too, now’s your chance to attend an early screening of the Seventh Son. Thanks to Universal Pictures, 14 readers of my Portland blog can win VIP passes to a screening of the film at Regal Bridgeport (February 4th, 7pm). Each VIP pass is good for one person plus a guest. To enter my contest, leave a comment about your favorite sci-fi/fantasy movie. The deadline to enter is Monday, February 2nd. Winners will be randomly selected and notified by email (check your spam folder on Tuesday, February 3rd). Note: the name you used to enter is the name I’m submitting to the studio rep if you win.

Seventh Son Synopsis

In a time of enchantments when legends and magic collide, the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order (Oscar winner Jeff Bridges) travels to find a prophesied hero born with incredible powers, the last Seventh Son (Ben Barnes). Torn from his quiet life as a farmhand, the unlikely young hero embarks on a daring adventure with his battle-hardened mentor to vanquish a dark queen (Julianne Moore) and the army of supernatural assassins she has dispatched against their kingdom. Sergei Bodrov directed Seventh Son from a screenplay by Charles Leavitt and Steve Knight and a screen story by Matt Greenberg, based on the book series “The Last Apprentice” by Joseph Delaney. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Thomas Tull and Lionel Wigram. Jon Jashni, Brent O’Connor and Alysia Cotter are executive producers, with Jillian Share and Erica Lee co-producing. The film will be released in 3D.

  1. My favorite is Gravity, since that is the last great one that I saw. Hope to find out if Seventh Son measures up to that kind of quality. Thanks!

  2. My favorite sci-if movie right now is The Never-Ending Story. I just watched it again with my nieces and they loved it. Sadly, their Dad thinks it’s too scary, so I’m not suppose to let them watch it ant more.

  3. As tough as it is to select just one sci-fi movie, I think I’m going with an old school pick: Aliens. Stay frosty!

  4. I remember taking my son and his friend to see Star Wars when it first was released way back then. It was fun for them and after the movie the excitement of the boys will stay with me forever.

So Star Wars is my favorite.

  5. I remember seeing Star Wars for the first time in 1977. It was so unlike any movie I had ever seen. It totally took my imagination by storm. Love to see how martial arts movies keep evolving. Jeff Bridges is a great actor and a valuable asset to the science fiction universe.

  6. My favorite has to be Ridley Scott’s Alien. One of the few sci-fi classics that really hold up to this day

  7. My favorite fantasy series definitely has to be “Harry Potter”, with “Lord of the Rings” being a close second. The character work alone has me in “Potter”‘s camp.

  8. My favorite SciFi/Fantasy??? JUST ONE???? Labyrinth…or Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy…or Galaxy Quest…or ANY of the Star Trek movies…There are too many to just pick one! BUT I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO THIS ONE!!! PLEASE!!! It’s been a bad enough start to the year & I could really use a night out to the movies!

  9. Wow, how to choose just one favorite sci fi / fantasy movie?! Does “Guardians of the Galaxy” count? If so, I’d have to say that one is my current favorite- it’s funny, has a great soundtrack, the characters have depth, and I can watch it repeatedly, which is unusual for me. :)
