Hello Portlanders! I have a contest on my Portland blog to see Suffragette for free. As you can guess by the title, the film is about a group of women who drove the movement for the right to vote. We take it for granted today, but there was a time when women were not allowed to vote. Suffragette stars Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter. The free screening for Suffragette is Monday, November 2nd at Regal Bridgeport at 7 pm. I’m giving away 15 early admit passes to see the screening. Each VIP pass is good for two guests. Anyone want to see the new Goosebumps movie? I can’t wait to take my kids to see it. The film won’t be released for another two weeks, but there’s an early screening on Wednesday, October 14th at Regal Lloyd Center (7 pm). Fox Searchlight Pictures is releasing a new documentary next month. It’s called He Named Me Malala, which is about the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Malala Yousafzai. The documentary is an inspirational story about an inspiring young women. If you’re interested in seeing this fascinating movie, there’s an early screening at Regal Bridgeport on October 7th (7pm). My kids and I loved the first Hotel Transylvania (Sony Pictures Animation). We can’t wait to see the sequel, which will begin haunting theaters on September 25th. But for those of you who can’t wait until next week, you’re in luck. There’s an early screening of Hotel Transylvania this Saturday at Regal Lloyd Center (September 19th, 10am). The remake of Annie (Sony Pictures) will be out in theaters on December 19th. The film stars Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne. If you are interested in seeing the movie early, there’s a screening at Regal Bridgeport on Saturday, December 13th at 10:30 am. Brad Pitt has a new movie coming out. It’s called Fury (Sony Pictures). The film is a historic story about a sergeant named Wardaddy (Pitt) who is on a mission behind enemy line in Nazi Germany. Fury will open in theaters on October 17th. If you can’t wait until then, you can download passes (click on the link to get a pass) to see a screening on Wednesday, October 15th at Regal Bridgeport at 7pm. The passes are first come, first serve. In the event they run out of passes, let me know. I’ll ask the studio to add more passes, but I can’t guarantee they will. Columbia Pictures is taking The Equalizer to the big screen. Their new movie is based on the 80’s TV series about a former covert operations officer who helps people in need. The big screen version stars Denzel Washington as the main character (Robert McCall). The Equalizer opens in theaters on September 26th. You can see an early screening of the film on Wednesday, September 24th at Regal Bridgeport at 7pm by downloading tickets on the Sony Screenings site. Note: the tickets are first come, first serve. Let me know if the tickets are all gone and I’ll see if I can get the studio to add more tickets. I’m not guaranteeing they will add more tickets, so you should sign up as soon as possible.

Fox Searchlight has a new crime drama coming out soon. The movie is called The Drop and it stars Tom Hardy and the late James Ganolfini. Wasn’t Ganolfini wonderful in Enough Said? The Drop doesn’t open until September 12th, but there is an early film screening on Wednesday, September 10th at Regal Lloyd Center Theater at 7pm. Hey Portlanders! Pierce Brosnan has a new movie coming out. The film is called The November Man (Relativity Media). It looks a little bit like one of his James Bond films, but he’s an ex-CIA agent this time. The November Man will open in theaters August 27th, but there is an early screening of the movie on Tuesday, August 26th at Regal Lloyd Center at 7pm.
